Plant City, Florida – December 2017: The Plant City Economic Development Corporation has entered into an engagement with the World Economic Development Alliance to help enhance their business-attraction efforts. The Plant City Economic Development Corporation (PCEDC) is a public-private partnership formed in the last quarter of 2015 to promote Plant City’s commercial, agricultural, office, distribution and industrial opportunities. The PCEDC also works closely with the neighboring Lakeland and Tampa Hillsborough EDC’s.
“We are truly excited to add Plant City to our Portfolio of great communities that we have in our Alliance. Plant City will bring some new benefits other cities can’t provide and one’s our expanding companies are looking for,” remarked Eric Kleinsorge, Chairman of the World Economic Development Alliance.
The Plant City EDC is lead by President and CEO Jake Austin and Vice President Alyssa Cerrito, who strive to encourage and support an entrepreneurial spirit within the community and ensure current and ongoing success for the community at large.
“We find ourselves at the crucible of the powerful forces of Tampa, Lakeland and Orlando, and we sit at a point of inevitability,” says Austin “We have a large agribusiness cluster here, as well as manufacturing and plastics. We are also the winter strawberry capital of the world. Out of all that comes a lot of different products including corrugated cardboard, packing shells, fertilizers and microbial products, an industry we hope to grow.”
The PEDC’s hard work is paying off. According to Austin, in the close of the second fiscal year, the PCEDC was able to increase their investor base to nearly 60 companies, and increase their private investment by almost $60,000.
